Ben Jurisich started playing guitar in 1990 and teaching in 1996. After completing a certificate in contemporary music performance at MAINZ in 1997 he headed overseas to see the rest of the world. Upon returning several years later, Ben started Eastside Guitar Tuition and went about building a clientele in the Remuera / Mt Eden area of Auckland. Aside from teaching, Ben is a consummate performer and has played with local talent The WBC, Debbie Harwood, Amber Claire, The Brawling, Jimmy and the Goodbrew, Jonny Love, The Danny McCrum Band, Lucy Lawless and Caitlin Smith as well as opening for international acts Joan Armatrading, Bryan Ferry, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. He has also recorded with Iggy Pop as part of a national advertising campaign for Orcon internet. Eastside Guitar Tuition teaches all styles of guitar, bass and also ukelele.
